About the Meetings
Sahaja Yoga is easy to learn. At its core, it is a state of inner calm and quiet. Anyone, of any age or any cultural background, can benefit from practicing Sahaja Yoga meditation.
Children are always welcome--they are often more sensitive to feeling the state of meditation
than adults, since the goal is the quieting of the endless stream of thoughts.
Each week a different topic or aspect is
covered.
Newcomers are always welcome--previous weeks' notes and information
are available for anyone who has missed a topic.
Sahaja Yoga is an inner yoga. The process of becoming a more relaxed and balanced person requires no physical or mental effort. Some
discipline is required to develop the habit of
a daily 5 or 10 minute meditation at home.
We usually begin with a guided
meditation, where everyone in the room enjoys a peaceful
state of silence and calm.
There is usually a tape or video of a talk by
Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, and a brief
lecture and explanation about one aspect of Sahaja Yoga.
Hands-on demonstrations of Sahaja Yoga
allow you to
quickly learn how to feel your own subtle
being and balance and cleanse
it.
The meeting usually ends with a second,
short group meditation.

What to bring, what to wear
Meetings last about an hour and a half. (Check the details on the previous
page; some meetings only run an hour.) You can either sit in a chair or sit on the floor to enjoy Sahaja
Yoga meditation. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You can bring
something to keep your weekly handouts in, if you like.
